The Luv Ur Body Menstrual Cup is an ideal alternative to pads and tampons. The design is aesthetically beautiful and fitting for women who want a menstrual cup that isn’t plain in look and feel or women who prefer a designed cup that is still easy to clean.
Our Menstrual Cup (especially the large one) is the largest in volume on the market globally to help guarantee up to 12 hours menstrual protection in most women especially women with very heavy flow who tend to change a super tampon or doubled maxi pads every 1.5-2hours. Because of this high volume capacity, there is no need to frequently empty the menstrual cup during the day. This makes it ideal for travelling, long car or plane trips as opposed to smaller volume brands which you’d most likely have to empty on the way.
The unique “V” shaped air vents in the Rim of the Luv Ur Body Menstrual Cup aid suction release during removal so that one doesn’t have to overly pull on the cup stem during removal. The part of the cup that bulges out just under the Rim is called the “soft swell” this design feature helps to add abit more capacity to the Cup and helps achieve the goal of larger capacity for our cups. It also helps the cup to gently spread the vaginal opening & makes the cup glide out easily so that the Rim is not felt during removal.
The Luv Ur Body Cup has a “barely there” flower and leaf design all over the Cup, the “barely there” design makes it very it easy to clean. The flower designs all over the body not just for aesthetics but to create “slip resistance” with the vaginal RUGAE or the bumpy inner vaginal wall to prevent the Menstrual Cup from slipping out when the user “bears down” such as during bowel movements etc. Most other brands are smooth on the outside thus when a woman “bears down” when she sneezes, laughs, squats, or bears down for bowel movements, the cup starts to slip out of the vaginal canal due to lack of friction with the smooth surface. A lot of women experience with other brands that are smooth on the outside that their cup will slide down & out such that if they don’t hold onto the cup while bearing down during bowel movements, their cup could fall into the toilet. No one likes holding her cup in place while poo-ing! The smaller flowers at the base, also provide grip for removal.
The Luv Ur Body cup has both a ball and leaf stem for grip and removal, instead of cutting off the cute leaf stem, we suggest the cup could possibly be turned inside out. But if the leaf stem is cut off, one would still have the small ball grip for removal. The Ball grip is small enough not to be felt or to cause any irritation or discomfort. The Leaf stem is short, soft and flexible and is hardly felt.
Our Medium Cup is slightly slimmer and longer in length than our large size Cup. This medium sized Luv Ur Body cup is also particularly useful for women who find that their cervix descends very low during their periods and thus adds extra volume to the contents of their Cup such that the Cup starts to leak even before its full or when they sneeze, cough, laugh or bear down. This unique design is ideal for women who have a low cervix during menstruation that tends to add extra volume to the menstrual fluid in their cup thus causing the contents to rise, bubble or leak. This is similar to what happens when pebbles are added to a half full glass, air bubbles/pockets will try to escape and fluid volume will rise and possibly overflow. That is why when such women take out their cups to empty it, they find its only half full, yet its already leaking or bubbling up every few seconds when they move and the bubbling makes them uncomfortable and worried that the cup may be leaking.
Our design has tried to address these concerns by making medium sized cups which are slimmer and taller to give the cervix more length room in the menstrual cup to avoid leaks so that each woman can have up to 12 hours irregardless of her light or heavy flow. We were the first brand to have a menstrual cup made for women with low cervix.
The large size is ideal for women with heavy to very heavy flow especially the sort of heavy flow caused by uterine fibroids, Pelvic Inflammatory disease, polyps, cysts, hormonal imbalance and the more common endometriosis, IUD’s (contraceptive inter-uterine devices). Or women who are wider “down there” due to multiple births or episiotomies. Our large cups are proudly our fastest selling cup size.
Our small sized menstrual cups are 28mls in volume (comparable to the small size of other brands) & its über cool design was made for the teenage market, women under 22yrs generally or women of any age who have light flow & don’t need a high capacity menstrual cup. They are great for the last days of your period when its slower.
Many people ask us if the colored flower designs on our small cups is medical grade silicone? The answer is YES, IT IS. The small cup is made via a very difficult (& expensive) 2 step process involving 2 separate molds to create the colored flower designs using baby blue or red Colored medical grade silicone layered on the clear Colored medical grade silicone. So the small cup is made entirely of 2 separate colors of medical grade silicone fused together & not paint or dye. The colors cannot come off even if scrubbed or soaked.
Another factor to bear in mind in designing a cup is POKING, since we all know by now a menstrual cup may poke you down there if its “funnel” shaped and has a pointed end with possibly short solid or hallow stem. Because some new brands want to take the “safe” road and just look like an older brand for quick market entry and acceptance, (instead of “rounding out” their cup bottom to avoid poking from this sharp stem), a lot of brands have this funnel shape that WILL poke.
“Rounded bottoms” we feel should be standard so that it doesn’t break a virgins hymen. This is why the “rounded bottom” as a safety measure comes standard with our menstrual cups like air bags in a car so that our cups don’t poke “down there” and there is no risk of it entangling the hymen or breaking it.
In some ethnic communities in Africa where multiple births is the norm ie having between 4-12 kids most times by natural birth with or without episiotomies larger sized cups will provide the much needed “better grip” against the vaginal muscle slackness that occurs over time. In some African countries where more advanced methods of contraception such as Nuva Rings, Diaphragms, Cervical caps, spermicides, birth control pills, Arm Implants, are not known or readily available the IUD and birth control injections are the primary form of contraception administered to women, it is also good to bear in mind that the IUD characteristically causes VERY HEAVY menstrual flow as a side effect. Most women that use them due to heavy flow may have to double pads or use 2-3 doubled pads to back-up a Super or Super plus tampon. Women that have fibroids and use IUD’s will experience particularly very heavy menstrual flow.
